Rescued Hummingbirds Who Have Been Rehabilitated and Released Back Into the Wild in Los Angeles.

What We Do

We rehabilitate orphaned and injured hummingbirds in the Los Angeles area and surrounding communities, including Santa Monica, West LA, Beverly Hills, Malibu, Pasadena, the South Bay, and the San Fernando Valley.

Hummingbirds are protected under federal law and must be cared for by licensed wildlife rehabilitators only. If you find a hummingbird or are aware of a nest of young birds that may be in trouble, please contact Terry at:

                                                      310-804-3715

If no one is immediately available, leave your name, phone number, and a brief message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Please be patient as we answer a high volume of calls during the spring and summer months.

If You Find an Injured or Orphaned Hummingbird

Hummingbirds eat nectar from flowers and small insects in the wild.  To feed a hummingbird you have found, mix four parts water with one part white sugar and, using an eyedropper, place a few drops on the end of the bird's beak.

Do not mix anything with the sugar water or attempt to feed the hummingbird any other food or insects. Sugar water will sustain the hummingbird temporarily until you can get it to us or another rehabilitation center where it will receive the balanced diet it requires prior to its release back into the wild.

Please do not cut a nest until you have talked to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. The mother will stop sitting on the nest when the chicks are 7-10 days old but will continue feeding the nestlings every thirty minutes.
